How it works

From symptom to fix in three steps

Tell us what the dashboard says, we find the root cause, you approve the quote before work starts.

01

Tell us everything it says

List every warning, not just the alarming one. On this vehicle the combination of messages is itself diagnostic, and a long list often points at one simple cause.

Tier-3 SUV rates. A full module scan including a battery and charging test is AED 99. A radiator flush is AED 225, a thermostat by quote and a radiator AED 1850. An AC condenser is from AED 1250, a compressor from AED 1875 and a blower motor AED 750. Sway bar end links are AED 400, a front lower control arm AED 1700, a transfer case oil change from AED 550 and gearbox fluid with filter from AED 950. Air suspension components and batteries are quoted after diagnosis.
Probably one. The number of messages on this vehicle is a poor guide to the number of faults, because the modules communicate over a network and a single root cause can make several of them report problems simultaneously. Electrical supply is the most common culprit: when voltage goes marginal that communication becomes unreliable and systems begin complaining about conditions that are not mechanically present. So the sensible order is to establish supply voltage first, then re-read the vehicle, and only then decide what is genuinely broken.
Because the suspension system does not work in isolation. It takes a feed from the alternator as one of its inputs, so an electrical supply problem can produce a suspension fault message with every air spring, height sensor and compressor in perfect working order. This is the single most useful thing to know about this vehicle, because an air suspension repair and a battery are nowhere near each other in price.
No, and this is where owners most often overpay. Air suspension faults trace back to one of four things: a weakening compressor, a leaking air spring at one corner, a blown fuse feeding the system, or a height sensor sending the control unit incorrect ride-height data. A fuse and a sensor are at the cheap end of that list. Assuming it must be an air spring, or worse ordering one before diagnosis, is how a modest repair becomes a large one. We establish which of the four it is first.
No, and please do not try. With the suspension deflated the vehicle has almost no travel, the geometry is wrong and the bodywork sits where it was never meant to. Tell us and we will arrange recovery. Once it is on a lift we can determine whether this is a leak, the compressor, a fuse or a sensor telling the system the wrong thing.
Two reasons combined. Heat shortens battery life far more aggressively than age or mileage does, so a battery that might last five years in a temperate climate may manage two or three here. On top of that, this vehicle draws current when parked because its modules do not all go fully to sleep immediately, so a Range Rover left standing for a week in summer is a battery under genuine stress. A vehicle used infrequently here is more likely to develop marginal voltage than one driven daily.
Because the parts are tier-3 SUV. A compressor is from AED 1875 on this vehicle against AED 750 on a tier-1 saloon, and a condenser from AED 1250 against AED 475. That is exactly why we measure pressures and find the leak before refilling anything, and why we rule out a blower motor at AED 750 when the complaint is weak airflow rather than warm air. On this vehicle a wrong guess is expensive enough that the AED 99 inspection pays for itself most of the time.
It depends on what it needs, and we will give you a straight answer rather than an encouraging one. Cooling, AC, bushes, control arms and fluids are all repairable at known prices. Air suspension is repairable but should be diagnosed precisely rather than replaced wholesale. What changes the arithmetic is a vehicle needing several large items at once, and in that situation you deserve to hear the total before committing to the first one.

Supply voltage tested, every module scanned, root cause established. Then a quote for what is actually broken.

Diagnosis first. Quote before any repair. No parts ordered on a guess.

Four warnings usually means one fault

This is the most useful thing an owner of this vehicle can know, and it is worth acting on before authorising any work.

A Range Rover with a problem rarely reports one problem. The dashboard lights up with warnings across several unrelated systems โ€” suspension, drive modes, stability, climate โ€” and the natural conclusion is that several things have broken at once.

The number of messages is a poor guide to the number of faults.

This vehicle runs a large number of electronic modules that talk to each other over a network. A single root cause can make several of them complain simultaneously, because they are reporting on conditions they cannot properly see rather than on faults they actually have.

So the sequence matters enormously: establish the root cause, then re-read the vehicle, then decide what is broken. Not the other way around.

Which is why we test voltage before we believe anything

The most common root cause behind a crowded dashboard on this vehicle is electrical supply.

When battery voltage goes marginal, communication between modules becomes unreliable. Systems begin reporting faults that are not mechanically present. Nothing is broken; the vehicle simply cannot trust its own instruments.

The air suspension is the clearest and most expensive example. That system takes a feed from the alternator as one of its inputs. Which means a supply problem can produce an air suspension fault message with every air spring, height sensor and compressor in perfect order.

Sit with that for a moment, because the money in it is substantial: an air suspension repair and a battery are nowhere near each other in price.

So the AED 99 diagnosis includes the battery and charging test rather than charging for it separately, and we do it first. Diagnosing this vehicle on a weak battery produces fiction, and acting on that fiction is how owners end up paying for parts their car never needed.

Why Dubai makes this common rather than rare

Two factors compound here.

Heat destroys batteries. Far faster than age or mileage. A battery that would give five years in a temperate climate may give two or three in this one, and it degrades gradually rather than announcing itself.

This vehicle draws current while parked, because its modules do not all drop fully asleep immediately. A Range Rover left standing for a week in a Dubai summer is a battery under real stress.

Put together: a Range Rover in this city โ€” particularly one used infrequently, which describes a great many of them here โ€” is considerably more likely to develop marginal voltage than one driven daily in a cooler place. The phantom-warning scenario above is therefore a local norm rather than an exotic edge case.

Air suspension: four causes, and two are cheap

The other place owners routinely overpay, because of an assumption.

An air suspension warning is widely assumed to mean an air spring has failed. Sometimes it has. But air suspension faults trace back to one of four things:

A weakening compressor, which struggles to maintain pressure and runs longer and longer.

A leaking air spring at one corner, the rubber bag that actually carries the vehicle.

A blown fuse feeding the system, which is at the genuinely trivial end of this list.

A height sensor sending the control unit incorrect ride-height data, so the system acts on bad information while the hardware is fine.

A fuse and a sensor are not an air spring, and they are not a compressor. Which is why we quote by failed part after diagnosis rather than publishing one air suspension price โ€” and why we will not order a component before we know which of the four it is.

If the vehicle has dropped onto its stops, do not drive it. There is almost no suspension travel, the geometry is wrong, and the body is sitting where it was never designed to. Tell us and we will arrange recovery.

Cooling, on a heavy vehicle in traffic

A Range Rover idling in Dubai traffic is close to the worst case for a cooling system: a large engine making heat in a heavy vehicle with limited airflow through the radiator.

That is a slow cumulative load on hoses, the thermostat, the pump and the radiator itself. Nothing dramatic happens for years, and then the margin runs out.

A flush is AED 225, the thermostat by quote, a radiator AED 1850. A rising gauge on this vehicle is worth stopping for rather than driving home on, because everything downstream of an overheated engine here is in a far larger bracket.

Air conditioning, where tier 3 SUV bites

An AC compressor is from AED 1875 on this vehicle and a condenser from AED 1250. The same jobs on a tier-1 saloon are AED 750 and AED 475.

That spread is exactly why we measure pressures and locate the leak before refilling anything, and why a AED 150 top-up is only offered where the system genuinely holds pressure.

And the common misread: cold air but not much of it is airflow, not refrigerant. That is a blower motor at AED 750 or a blocked cabin filter, and it is worth eliminating before anyone opens the refrigerant circuit on a vehicle where the parts cost this much.

The chassis items that are genuinely affordable

Not everything on this vehicle is expensive, and the cheap answers are worth checking first.

Sway bar end links at AED 400 are usually the right answer to a knock over speed bumps, and they are the cheapest suspension repair available here.

A front lower control arm is AED 1700, which is where a clunk under braking combined with vague steering tends to lead.

Transfer case oil from AED 550. This vehicle has real off-road hardware, and if yours sees sand that fluid degrades with heat and load rather than distance. It is reliably the first item forgotten once the vehicle leaves the dealer network.

Gearbox fluid with filter from AED 950, worth planning rather than reacting to on a heavy vehicle with mileage.

The honest verdict

A Range Rover rewards precise diagnosis more than almost any vehicle we see, and punishes guessing more severely. The faults are documented and specific, not random. What makes ownership expensive is not the vehicle’s complexity in itself but the habit of treating each warning message as a separate problem to be solved with a part.

Establish supply voltage. Scan every module. Identify which of the four causes applies. Then spend money.

If what you need is routine servicing rather than a repair, that is AED 800 minor and AED 1500 major, with battery health measured and reported every visit.
