Audi engines are durable. What brings Audis into a workshop in this country, more often than anything else, is the transmission and the all-wheel-drive hardware behind it.
The S tronic dual-clutch gearbox is the main character. It is quick, efficient and perfectly reliable while its fluid is in good condition, and that fluid degrades with heat. Dubai traffic in summer is close to the worst environment a dual-clutch can work in: constant low-speed engagement, high ambient temperature, no sustained airflow. Nothing fails suddenly. What happens instead is a gradual hesitation when pulling away from a standstill, or a faint shudder in slow traffic, and most owners live with it for months because the car still drives.
That window is where the money is. A gearbox service from AED 750 at the shudder stage frequently resolves it outright. The same car a year later, with worn clutch packs, is a rebuild. Few repairs in this market have such a wide gap between acting early and acting late.
If your Audi is a quattro, there is a transfer case splitting drive between the axles, and it has its own oil. Nobody thinks about it. A change is from AED 475.
On a Q7 or Q5 with serious mileage it is worth asking about, because a transfer case running on tired oil is one of the quieter paths to an expensive driveline noise. It is cheap, it is quick, and it is exactly the sort of item that falls through the cracks when a car moves off a dealer schedule.
Audi AC parts are not cheap. A condenser is AED 1075 and a compressor AED 1650, which makes guessing an expensive strategy. A condenser clogged with the fine dust that gets everywhere here presents exactly like a system low on refrigerant, and a slow leak presents the same way again.
So we check pressures and find the leak before adding gas. Knowing whether you need a AED 150 top-up, a AED 1075 condenser or a AED 1650 compressor is the entire value of the inspection.
An Audi logs fault codes long before the driver notices a symptom, and the parts are expensive enough that replacing the wrong one hurts. A scan reads the codes, points the technician at the actual system, and turns a vague complaint into a quoted job.
If what you need turns out to be routine servicing rather than a repair, that is fixed-price and cheaper still.
