A minor service is AED 800 and a major service AED 1500. Those are tier-3 SUV rates and reflect the oil volume, filters and fluids this vehicle genuinely needs. Oil change only is from AED 400, spark plugs AED 300, air and cabin filters AED 125 each, a gearbox fluid change from AED 625 or AED 950 with the filter, and a transfer case oil change from AED 550. A radiator flush is AED 225 and a full diagnostic scan AED 99. A thermostat is by quote on this engine, for the reason in the next answer.
Because on the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 the thermostat and water pump sit underneath the supercharger, in the valley of the engine. The part itself is ordinary and cheap. The cost is the labour of removing the supercharger to reach it, which also disturbs a coolant pipe, the intake manifold gaskets beneath it and the belts. A menu price would be a fiction, because the real bill is the access, not the part. So we quote it once we know the condition of everything behind that wall.
On this engine, almost always yes. Both sit in the same buried space under the supercharger, so reaching one means you are already next to the other. Owners who replace just the thermostat and leave the pump often pay the same access again within a year or two when the pump goes. Doing the pump, the coolant pipe and the gaskets in the one visit means paying for that access once instead of three times. We will tell you what is worth bundling when we quote.
Mobil fully synthetic engine oil to the correct specification, an oil filter replacement, air and cabin filter checks, all fluids topped up, a multi-point inspection and a full diagnostic scan across the modules. On the supercharged car we also look over the cooling system properly, because that is where this engine ages. Usually back the same day with a 6 month service warranty.
Every 5,000 to 10,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first, and we would use the shorter end here. This is a heavy vehicle with a large oil volume working in 45ยฐC heat, often in traffic, and the oil is doing far more than a published temperate-climate interval assumes. The cooling system is under the same load, which is another reason not to stretch the interval on this car.
It is worth having looked at rather than ignored. A brief rattle on cold start is widely reported on this engine and points at the timing chain tensioner, which takes a moment to build oil pressure when cold. In at least one documented owner case the plastic chain tensioner guides had broken and let the chain run out of line, so this is not something to leave indefinitely. We can listen to it, read the camshaft timing on the scan and tell you whether it needs action now or watching.
One worth knowing about on 2005 to 2015 cars. There was a recall relating to the brake servo vacuum feed line, where the hose could let engine oil reach the servo and reduce braking performance over time, and affected cars had the hose and any related damage put right. It is a dated recall rather than a live warning on your specific vehicle, so the right step is to confirm the recall history with Audi by your VIN. We will flag it during the service, and separately the plastic coolant pipes of this generation grow brittle with age and are worth inspecting on an older car.

Fixed price upfront. Anything the inspection finds is quoted, never assumed.

The thermostat you cannot put a price on

Most service pages publish a number for every job and quietly leave the awkward ones off. This one does the opposite, because the single most useful thing we can tell an Audi Q7 owner is why a few jobs are quoted instead of listed, and what that tells you about the car.

Start with the thermostat. On the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6, the thermostat and the water pump are not at the front of the engine where a hand can reach them. They sit underneath the supercharger, down in the valley of the V. The parts themselves are ordinary. A thermostat is a cheap component on almost any car, and this one is no exception. What you pay for is not the part. It is the hours it takes to get to it.

To reach that thermostat, the supercharger has to come off. Doing that disturbs the intake manifold gaskets beneath it, a coolant pipe that runs through the same space, and the belts that have to be released to move any of it. Owners who set out to replace only a thermostat on this engine report the same thing every time. The job grows to take in the pump, the pipe, the gaskets and the belts, not because a garage is padding the invoice but because all of those parts live behind the same wall of access.

That is why a Q7 thermostat cannot honestly be sold at a list price. On this engine the parts are ordinary and the access is the bill. A fixed figure on a menu would mislead you, because the real cost is the labour of opening the engine, and that only makes sense to price once we can see the condition of everything behind that wall.

Why we quote it, and why that is the honest answer

A “By quote” line looks like evasion. On this car it is the opposite. Publishing a confident thermostat price and then revising it on the lift, once the supercharger is off and the state of the pump and pipes is visible, would waste your time and ours. The buried jobs on the Q7 are quoted precisely so the number you are given is the number you pay.

So when you see Thermostat & water pump: by quote on the pricing above, read it as a feature of how this engine is built rather than a gap in our list. It is, in a real sense, the whole point of this page.

One access, done once, not three times

The practical consequence for an owner is where the money actually sits. Because so much of a cooling job on this engine is the labour of reaching the parts, the expensive thing is not the thermostat or the pump or the pipe. It is removing the supercharger to get at any of them.

Replace the thermostat alone and leave the water pump, and there is a fair chance the pump fails within a year or two. When it does, the supercharger comes off again, and you pay that same access a second time. If the coolant pipe cracks after that, it comes off a third. The sensible owner pays for that access once.

So when we quote, we tell you plainly what is worth doing while the engine is already open. That usually means the pump and the gaskets alongside the thermostat, and often the aged coolant pipe in the same space, because the incremental cost of the extra parts is small next to the cost of going back in. This is not upselling. It is the arithmetic of an engine where the labour dominates, and we would rather you heard it before the work than after.

Dubai heat raises what the cooling system has to do

A heavy SUV idling in Dubai traffic is close to the worst case you can give a cooling system. A large engine makes a lot of heat, the vehicle is heavy, and there is limited airflow through the radiator when the car is barely moving. The system spends years quietly losing margin while nothing dramatic happens, and then one summer the margin runs out.

That matters more on this engine than most, because so much of the cooling hardware lives in that awkward buried space. The plastic coolant pipes of this generation grow brittle with age and can crack, which on a car driven in this heat is a genuine overheating risk rather than a slow drip. It is not the lead of this page, but it is exactly why we inspect the cooling system properly on an older Q7 rather than just topping the coolant up.

A radiator flush and refill is AED 225, and coolant condition is checked at every visit. A rising temperature gauge on this car is worth stopping for rather than driving home on, because everything downstream of an overheated V6 sits in a far larger bracket.

Tier 3 SUV, minor AED 800 and major AED 1500

A minor service is AED 800 and a major is AED 1500. Those are higher than a tier-3 saloon and considerably higher than a Japanese SUV, and the reason is not the badge. It is a large oil volume, more filters, more fluid and a heavier vehicle. Quoting a lower figure and revising it on collection would waste everyone’s time.

The minor service covers Mobil fully synthetic oil to the correct specification, a new oil filter, air and cabin filter checks, all fluids topped up, a multi-point inspection and a full diagnostic scan across the modules. The major service replaces rather than checks: air filter and cabin filter at AED 125 each, spark plugs at AED 300, and wiper blades, on top of everything in the minor.

Both come back the same day in the normal case, and both carry a 6 month service warranty. Anything the inspection turns up is quoted separately, and you decide.

The fluids that quietly fall off the schedule

Two items drop off most cars once they leave the dealer network, and both are worth planning rather than reacting to on a vehicle this heavy.

Gearbox (ATF) fluid, from AED 625, or AED 950 with the filter. Often described as lifetime. Worth doing anyway on a heavy automatic with real mileage in this climate, because the fluid works harder here than any brochure interval assumes.

Transfer case oil, from AED 550. The Q7 has genuine all-wheel-drive hardware, and if yours ever sees sand that fluid degrades with heat and load rather than with distance. It is reliably the first thing to be forgotten.

A rattle on cold start, worth a listen

A short rattle on cold start that clears after a second is widely reported on this engine, and it points at the timing chain tensioner, which takes a moment to build oil pressure when the engine is cold. On its own it is common. What makes it worth checking rather than ignoring is that in at least one documented owner case the plastic chain tensioner guides had broken and let the chain run out of line, which is a much larger problem than a brief noise.

We can listen to it, read the camshaft timing on the scan, and tell you whether it needs action now or simply watching at the next service. It is a secondary point rather than a reason to panic, but it is the sort of thing a proper service catches early.

A recall worth confirming on an older Q7

On 2005 to 2015 cars there was a recall relating to the brake servo vacuum feed line. The concern was that the hose could allow engine oil to reach the servo and reduce braking performance over time, and affected cars had the hose and any associated damage put right under the recall.

This is a dated recall on older vehicles, not a live warning about your specific car, and we are not suggesting any particular Q7 is unsafe. The right step is simple: confirm the recall history with Audi by your VIN. We will flag it when we service an older car so you know to check, and we will look over the brittle coolant pipes of the same era at the same time.

Doorstep in Dubai, workshop for the heavy work

The lighter service items, an oil change and the routine checks, can be done at your door anywhere in Dubai. Anything that means opening the cooling system under the supercharger, or putting the car on a lift, is workshop work at Al Quoz, Umm Ramool or Wadi Al Amardi. That is not a limitation so much as doing the job properly: a supercharger-off cooling repair needs time, a lift and the right gaskets on the shelf, not a kerbside.

If what you need is a repair rather than maintenance, that is on its own page, diagnosed for AED 99 before anyone quotes a part.
