I had major service work done on my car, and everything was clearly explained and handled professionally. The team was transparent, helpful, and honest about what needed to be done and what could wait.

Tell us the mileage and history
When it was last serviced, and whether the gearbox fluid, brake fluid or coolant have ever been changed. On a car this heavy and this fast those answers matter more than the odometer alone.

A rear-drive V8 saloon has a specific problem in this heat
Most servicing advice for a Charger starts with the engine. This page does not, because the thing that decides how long a Charger lasts in Dubai is not which engine is under the bonnet. It is what this climate does to a car that is heavy, rear-wheel drive, and usually driven hard.
Think about what that combination actually asks for. A large-capacity engine idling in summer traffic, then used in short hard bursts between lights. Two tonnes of car that has to be stopped from speed, repeatedly, on roads where you accelerate into a gap and brake out of it. Fat rear tyres doing all the driving while the fronts do all the steering. And an automatic gearbox shifting under load in ambient air that never drops below warm.
Five things take the strain from that, and all five are what a proper service is really for: the engine oil, the cooling system, the brakes, the tyres, and the gearbox fluid. None of them is exotic. All of them are cheaper to look after than to replace, and all of them age faster here than the owner’s manual, written for a cooler country, ever assumed.
So this is not a page about identifying your engine. It is a page about the five things the heat attacks, and doing them on a sensible clock rather than a hopeful one.
The oil interval the manual was not written for
The single most important fluid in the car, and the one most often left too long.
A Charger’s engine is large, and a large engine in Dubai spends a lot of its life in the worst possible condition for oil: hot, under load, and barely moving. Crawling traffic gives the oil all of the heat and none of the airflow. Then the car gets used hard, which is exactly what a driver buys a Charger to do, and the oil has to cope with that too.
Published oil intervals are written around temperate driving, where the oil runs cooler and has an easier life between changes. At 45ยฐC ambient, with the engine heat-soaked and the air conditioning adding to the load, the oil is working considerably harder than that figure assumes. It oxidises faster, it thins sooner, and it loses the protection it was carrying before the odometer says it should.
That is why we use Mobil fully synthetic oil and recommend the shorter end of the 5,000 to 10,000 km range on this car. It is not an upsell. On an engine this size, in this climate, driven this way, it is the cheapest insurance you can buy. An oil change only is from AED 300 between full services if you cover the distance quickly.
Cooling: the system the climate attacks first
A V8 produces a great deal of heat. Dubai traffic is close to the worst place on earth to ask it to shed that heat, because you have low road speed, very little airflow through the radiator, 45ยฐC ambient air, and the air conditioning condenser working flat out in front of the same radiator core.
None of that is a fault. It is physics, and it means coolant condition on a Charger deserves checking at every service rather than every third. Coolant does not just carry heat. It carries corrosion protection, and that protection wears out before the coolant stops looking like coolant. On an engine with aluminium in it, losing that protection quietly is how a cooling system starts to fail from the inside while still appearing full and healthy.
A radiator flush and refill is AED 225, which makes it one of the cheapest sensible things you can do before summer. If the temperature gauge ever starts to climb in traffic, that is worth stopping for rather than pressing on, because everything downstream of an overheated V8 is in a far larger bracket than a flush. The repair-side items, a thermostat or a radiator, live on the Charger repair page where they are priced or quoted properly.
Brake fluid, not just brake pads
Everyone thinks about brake pads on a car like this. Far fewer think about the fluid, and the fluid is the part the climate quietly ruins.
A Charger is heavy and quick, so it asks a lot of its brakes: more energy to turn into heat, more often, than a light car ever deals with. That heat travels into the brake fluid. The problem is that brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air over time, and moisture lowers the temperature at which the fluid boils. Boiled fluid compresses, and a brake pedal that goes soft when you need it most is the result.
In a hot, humid coastal city that moisture creep happens faster than in a dry temperate climate. So on this car we check the condition of the brake fluid as part of the service rather than only measuring the pads, and we tell you where it stands. If it needs renewing, that is quoted. Pads themselves we measure in millimetres and report the number, because sometimes the honest answer is that you have a few thousand kilometres left and sometimes it is that you should not leave it.
Tyres, and why a rear-drive saloon wears them unevenly
A rear-wheel-drive Charger wears tyres in a way a front-drive saloon does not. The rear tyres put the power down and the front tyres do the steering, so the two axles wear at different rates and in different patterns. Add a heavy car, a lot of torque, and Dubai heat that softens rubber, and uneven wear becomes the normal outcome rather than the exception.
Two cheap habits deal with most of it. A tyre rotation at AED 50 moves the wear around so a set lasts closer to its full life instead of the rears scrubbing out while the fronts still look new. A wheel alignment at AED 200 keeps the geometry true, because once the alignment drifts, a heavy car on hot roads will shave the edge off a tyre quickly and quietly. Both are worth doing on a schedule rather than after you have already lost a tyre to it.
Heat also raises running pressures, so we check and set them to the correct cold figure rather than whatever the gauge reads on a tyre that has been sitting in the sun. It sounds trivial. On a fast, heavy car it is not.
The eight-speed gearbox fluid almost nobody asks for
Here is the item that gets forgotten more reliably than any other on this car, and the one we most want you to know about.
The Charger runs an eight-speed automatic, and its fluid is very often described on the factory sticker as lifetime. In a hot climate, that word is optimistic. Automatic transmission fluid degrades with heat and load, and a heavy rear-drive saloon in Dubai generates plenty of both. The fluid thins, its additives deplete, and the gearbox starts shifting less cleanly long before anything lights up on the dashboard.
A gearbox fluid change is AED 550, or AED 825 with a new filter. That is not an expensive job by the standards of this car. What makes it expensive is leaving it until the transmission is already shifting oddly, because by then the conversation is no longer about fresh fluid, it is about a gearbox that has been running on tired fluid for years.
Almost nobody books this until it is late. That is precisely why we raise it. If your Charger has covered real distance and the gearbox fluid has never been touched, mention the mileage when you book and we will tell you honestly whether it is due.
Minor or major: what each one covers
A minor service is AED 625, the routine one, due every 5,000 to 10,000 km or 6 months. It covers Mobil fully synthetic oil, a new oil filter, cleaning of the air and cabin filters, all fluids topped up, and a multi-point inspection that puts cooling, brakes and tyres first on this car. In Dubai you can have this done at your door at the same price as the workshop.
A major service is AED 1300, typically every third service, around 30,000 to 40,000 km or every two years. It replaces rather than cleans: a new air filter, a new cabin filter, new spark plugs and new wiper blades, alongside the oil, filter, fluids and inspection. Spark plugs on their own are AED 300 as a standalone job, which is part of why the major sits where it does.
The gearbox fluid, the coolant flush and the brake fluid sit outside both services because they run on longer clocks of their own. We will tell you which of them is actually due rather than bundling them in to inflate the bill. Anything the inspection flags is reported with a price, and if it is a repair rather than maintenance, it is quoted separately and you decide.
