How it works
Serviced and back, same day
Book a slot, drop the car at an Abu Dhabi workshop, collect it the same day in most cases.
Pick minor or major
A minor service suits most cars every 5,000 to 10,000 km or 6 months. A major service is due roughly every 30,000 to 40,000 km and adds filters, spark plugs and wipers. Tell us the mileage and the date of the last one.
Drop the car in
Pick a workshop reachable from your area, whether that is Khalifa City, Mussafah, MBZ or the island. The service is fixed-price, so the figure does not move unless the inspection finds something and you approve it.
Inspected, serviced, returned
Oil and filter done, fluids topped up, and a multi-point inspection. We check the oil level against the mileage too, which matters more on an Abu Dhabi car covering long distances between services.

On a GDI Hyundai, an engine knock is not a “monitor it” fault
This is the most important thing on the page, and it is specific to this brand.
Hyundai’s Theta II and Nu petrol engines, used across Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson and Elantra through the 2010s, have a documented pattern of connecting rod bearing wear. Hyundai’s own technical bulletins describe the symptoms plainly: an abnormal knocking noise from the engine, and/or illumination of the oil pressure warning light, often with DTC P1326 stored. The bulletins are equally plain about what happens if it is ignored, which is that the bearing fails, the engine is damaged, and the car can stall while moving.
So the practical advice differs from almost every other brand on this site. A new noise or an oil pressure light on one of these is not something to keep an eye on for a few weeks. It is a stop-driving-and-get-it-read situation, because the failure mode is progressive and the end of it is an engine rather than a repair.
A full fault-code read is AED 99. On this particular brand that is the cheapest insurance available.
The part of this that belongs at the dealer, not with us
We would rather tell you this than take the work.
Hyundai ran recall and extended-warranty campaigns in several markets covering connecting rod bearing failure on specific engines and model years, alongside a Knock Sensor Detection System software update that monitors for the early signature of bearing wear. That software has to be installed by an authorised Hyundai dealer, and in the markets where the warranty extension applies, eligibility generally depends on having had it done.
Those campaigns were market-specific, so whether a particular car here is covered depends on its VIN and on the local distributor. It is worth asking them directly before you spend money anywhere else, including with us. If your car qualifies, the engine work is theirs to do and it should cost you nothing.
What we can do is read the codes, tell you honestly what we are looking at, and point you to the right place if that is the dealer.
Why oil level matters more on this brand
There is a connection between the two things above that is worth drawing out, because it is the one piece of prevention genuinely in your hands.
Direct-injection engines of this generation are known for consuming oil more readily than the port-injected engines they replaced. Low oil means lower oil pressure, and lower oil pressure is precisely what accelerates bearing wear. So on a GDI Hyundai the two issues are not separate problems, they are the same problem at different stages.
Which makes checking the oil level between services a more valuable habit on this brand than on most. It costs nothing, takes two minutes, and on a car with a known bearing-wear pattern it is the difference between topping up and replacing an engine. We check and record the level at every visit, and if a car is using oil we tell you the rate rather than just topping it up quietly.
The warranty-expiry moment
Most of our Hyundai customers arrive at roughly the same point in the car’s life: the manufacturer warranty has just run out, the dealer servicing suddenly looks expensive, and the question is where to go next.
The honest answer is that nothing about the car changes the day the warranty ends. What changes is who pays. So the things worth getting right are the ones that preserve the car rather than the ones that preserve a relationship: correct oil specification, a kept schedule, and an itemised record of the work.
A minor service is AED 350 for an Elantra, Accent or Sonata and AED 425 for a Tucson, Santa Fe or Creta. A major, typically every third service, is AED 775 and AED 900, replacing air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs and wiper blades rather than cleaning them. Both figures are fixed before you book and identical to our Dubai workshops.
Service on the odometer, not the calendar
Intervals are written as distance or time, whichever comes first, and in Abu Dhabi it is almost always the distance. Long runs on the E11 and the Al Ain road, commuting between the island and Mussafah or MBZ.
A car covering 1,500 km a month passes 10,000 km in seven months, and plenty here do considerably more. On an engine with a known sensitivity to oil condition and level, running the interval long is a false economy.
Sustained high-speed running also pushes far more air, and therefore far more fine dust, through the air filter than city driving does.
What else the inspection turns up
Batteries rarely see a third UAE summer and are the failure that most often strands people, so a battery test at service time is worth more here than in most climates. Tyres get checked for condition, pressure and age, because sustained speed on hot asphalt is the hardest life a tyre has. Coolant condition every visit, and a radiator flush is AED 225 if it is due.
Anything found is quoted for your approval, and if it is a repair rather than maintenance it is priced separately.
