A minor service suits most cars every 5,000 to 10,000 km or 6 months. A major service is due roughly every 30,000 to 40,000 km, and adds filters, spark plugs and wipers. Tell us the mileage and we will say which is due.
Drop the car at Al Quoz, Umm Ramool or Wadi Al Amardi, or ask for collection from most of Dubai. The service is fixed-price, so the figure does not move unless the inspection finds something and you approve it.
Oil and filter done, fluids topped up, and a multi-point inspection. On a Honda we pay particular attention to the air conditioning and, on the CVT models, the condition of the gearbox fluid.

Air conditioning is the complaint that brings more Hondas into our Dubai workshops than anything else, and the reason is specific to how this city is driven rather than to how hot it is.
An air conditioning system sheds heat through the condenser at the front of the car, and the condenser needs airflow. At 100 km/h it gets all it needs for free. Crawling along Sheikh Zayed Road at 10 km/h it gets only what the fan can pull through, while the engine behind it is also radiating heat and the ambient air is already 45°C.
So the system is working at its hardest exactly when it has least help. That is why a Honda AC fault in this city nearly always announces itself in traffic first and feels fine again once you are moving. Owners routinely describe cold air on the motorway and tepid air on the school run, and read it as intermittent. It is not intermittent. It is a system with no margin left, showing you the margin.
They feel identical from the driver’s seat, and only one of them is fixed by refrigerant.
A blend door actuator. A small motor inside the dashboard positions a flap that decides how much air passes through the chilled evaporator. When it fails or loses calibration the flap sits part-way and blends warm air into the cold, so the system is working properly and the vents still feel tepid. The giveaway is a faint clicking or ticking from behind the dashboard, loudest just after starting or when you change the temperature. Gas will not fix this, because gas was never the problem.
A compressor clutch that is not engaging. The compressor only turns when an electromagnetic clutch pulls it in, which depends on a relay, the wiring and a pressure switch. Owner reports concentrate clutch-relay failures on 2008 to 2012 Accords. Pressures are fine, the gas is fine, and the compressor is simply not being switched on. One of the cheaper outcomes, which is exactly why it is worth finding before anyone quotes a compressor.
A genuine leak or a worn compressor. The expensive end: a condenser from AED 475, a compressor from AED 750.
An AC inspection is AED 99 and tells you which of the three you have. A gas top-up is AED 150, and we will not sell you one if the pressures say it would achieve nothing.
Worth putting before the expensive possibilities, because in stop-start driving it is commonly the real culprit.
A cabin filter clogged with Dubai’s fine dust restricts airflow across the evaporator. The air coming through is properly cold, there is just not enough of it, so the cabin never pulls down and the symptom presents as weak air conditioning. In slow traffic, where airflow is already marginal, a partly blocked filter is enough to tip a healthy system into feeling broken.
It is cleaned at every minor service and replaced at every major, and AED 75 as a standalone job. We check it first rather than last.
Honda’s engineering runs to higher compression, tighter tolerances and higher operating revs than most rivals, which is much of why they feel the way they do.
Extended idling in traffic is the least favourable condition for an engine like that: low oil flow, minimal airflow, high under-bonnet temperatures, and the AC compressor adding load the whole time. The oil is what protects the margin, which is why we use Mobil fully synthetic to the correct specification on every service and would not economise on it on this brand.
A minor service is AED 350 for a Civic, Accord or City and AED 425 for a CR-V, HR-V or Pilot. A major, typically every third service, is AED 775 and AED 900, replacing air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs and wiper blades rather than cleaning them.

A car doing short trips in heavy traffic may take a year to cover 10,000 km while putting more hours of hot running on the oil than a motorway car does in half that. Oil degrades with heat and time under load, not with distance alone, so a low-mileage Dubai Honda is not automatically a lightly used one.
If your car spends its life between Marina, Business Bay and the airport, service it on the calendar. If it covers real distance, service it on the odometer.
A good share of what a Honda needs in Dubai does not require a ramp. An AC gas top-up at AED 150 where the system holds pressure, a battery replacement, a diagnostic scan, a cabin filter: all of that can be done where the car is parked.
A full service is different, because the car has to come up on a lift to drain the oil, change the filter and inspect the underbody properly. For that we either see you at a workshop or collect the car and bring it back.
Batteries rarely see a third UAE summer and are the failure that most often strands people, so a battery test at service time is worth more here than in most climates. Brake pads get measured rather than estimated, because stop-start traffic wears them unevenly. Coolant condition every visit, and a radiator flush is AED 225 if due.
