Great service done by the team here. Special shout out to Muhammad Shaheer, who gave me solid and legit advice on how to go about with my car and the parts that were to be replaced.
Lexus IS repair in Dubai, diagnosed for AED 99.
A misfire or rough idle on the direct-injection IS V6 is usually carbon, not a tired set of plugs. It shows up after a cold start or after the car has stood overnight, and it is a code-and-carbon question, diagnosed properly rather than guessed at. Plugs are AED 225, but fitting plugs to a carbon problem solves nothing. Diagnosis AED 99, quote before any work.

How it works
From symptom to fix in three steps
Tell us what it is doing, we find out why, you approve the quote before work starts.
Describe it precisely
Rough idle after a cold start? A stumble when it has stood overnight? A misfire light? Each narrows the search on an IS, and a misfire that sets a cylinder code points at carbon far more often than at a worn plug.
We scan and inspect
We read the stored codes and the live data before anyone quotes a part, and we look at the intake side on the direct-injection cars. A rough idle is confirmed as carbon rather than assumed, so you are not paying for plugs that will not fix it.
We repair it, you approve
Carbon cleaning, AC, cooling, suspension: whatever the diagnosis points to is done only with your say-so. Nothing is touched without your approval, and nothing is guessed.
Pricing
Lexus IS repair jobs, priced upfront
The IS prices in tier 2, between the tier 1 Japanese saloons and the tier 3 German luxury cars, which is why these figures are lower than the badge suggests. Carbon cleaning and injector work are quoted after diagnosis, because what a given engine needs varies. The IS F prices a tier higher and we quote it separately.

Checks
The quick ones.
- Diagnosis is AED 99, and on the V6 it reads the codes and the intake before anyone quotes a carbon clean or a plug
- Tier 2 pricing, between the Japanese and German bands on the same jobs
- Carbon and injector work is quoted, never estimated from a web page
A misfire can be carbon or a worn plug. The AED 99 diagnosis tells you which, before you pay for either.

A misfire or rough idle read with codes first, the intake checked on the V6, then a quote for the actual fault. Not a set of plugs fitted on a guess.
Diagnosis first. Quote before any repair. Work only with your say-so.
A misfire on the IS V6 is a carbon question, not a plug question
Almost everything on a Lexus IS is sensible to put right. It sits in tier 2, between the tier 1 Japanese saloons and the tier 3 German luxury cars, so an AC compressor is from AED 1025, a radiator AED 1125, and sway bar end links AED 250. The badge is premium, the repair bills are mid-band.
The one fault worth leading with is the one owners most often misread. On the direct-injection V6, the IS 250 especially, carbon deposits build up over time, and the result is a misfire and a rough idle that tends to show up after a cold start, after the car has stood overnight, or after coming to a stop. It is a code-and-carbon question, and the honest way to handle it is to diagnose it properly rather than throw a set of plugs at it and hope.
Why plugs do not fix it
Spark plugs are AED 225, and they are exactly the right repair when a plug is genuinely worn. A misfire on this engine usually is not that. Direct injection sprays fuel straight into the cylinder rather than over the back of the intake valve, and over the miles carbon builds up where the air and fuel enter. That is what disturbs combustion and sets the engine stumbling, particularly when it is cold or has been sitting.
Fit new plugs to a carboned engine and it will misfire again, because the plugs were never the problem. You will have spent AED 225 to arrive at the diagnosis a AED 99 scan would have given you first. So we read the stored codes and the live data, look at the intake side on the direct-injection cars, and confirm the carbon before quoting the clean. Plugs go in when the plugs are the actual fault, not as a hopeful first move.
It is a misfire that sets a code, not a tap that fades
This is worth spelling out plainly, because a different car has a different fault that sounds similar when an owner describes it over the phone.
If you have read about an engine that taps or rattles for a few seconds after it has sat overnight and then goes quiet once you are moving, that is not this car and not this problem. That one is a noise, it fades as the revs climb past about 2,500 rpm, and the cause is hydraulic lifters bleeding down overnight and taking a moment to re-pressurise. It clears itself.
What the IS does is not that. The IS throws a misfire: the engine stumbles, the check-engine light can flash, and the ECU stores a cylinder-specific code. It does not politely disappear once you are up to speed. A misfire that logs a code and a tappy noise that clears itself are two separate conversations, and treating one as the other is how money gets wasted on the wrong parts. If your IS stumbles and lights the dash rather than ticking quietly for ten seconds and settling, you are in carbon territory, and the scan will confirm it.
The AED 99 diagnosis
The diagnosis is where the money is best spent on this car, because the symptom and the cause are not the same thing. A AED 99 scan reads the stored fault codes and the live data, identifies which cylinder is misfiring, and lets us look at the intake side before anyone opens a wallet.
From there the path is clear. If it is carbon, carbon cleaning is quoted for your specific engine, because how much has accumulated depends on the car’s age, mileage and how it has been driven. If it genuinely is a worn plug, that is AED 225. If an injector is at fault, that is quoted after inspection. You pay for the fault you actually have, confirmed, rather than the one someone guessed at from the symptom alone.
AC in a compact cabin that still bakes
An IS has a smaller cabin than an SUV, but it sits in the same Dubai heat, and the climate system still does hard work. The most common request we get is not a sudden failure, it is a slow decline: the AC is not as cold as it was and nobody can say quite when that started.
Where the system is simply low and still holding pressure, a gas top-up is AED 150, but we check pressures and look for a leak first, because gas into a leaking system is money spent twice. If a part has failed, a condenser is from AED 650, an evaporator from AED 1025, a compressor from AED 1025 and a blower motor AED 450. An inspection is AED 99 and tells you which of those you are looking at, rather than guessing in the heat.
Cooling in Dubai traffic
The IS holds its temperature well when the cooling system is healthy, so a climbing gauge is a reason to stop and have the cause found rather than the coolant topped up and the problem buried. Dubai traffic is the least helpful place to shed heat: low road speed, little airflow, high ambient temperature, and the AC condenser working hard directly in front of the radiator core.
A flush and refill is AED 225, a thermostat AED 450, a radiator AED 1125. An engine run hot repeatedly costs many times any of those, so the cheap, early fix is always the better arithmetic here.
Suspension, cheapest cause first
If it knocks over bumps, start with sway bar end links at AED 250, the most common and cheapest answer. A worn front lower control arm is AED 1075, and tired shock absorbers are from AED 800 front and AED 625 rear, usually alongside a floaty ride or uneven tyre wear. We check the ordinary, inexpensive causes before anything bigger, and a wheel alignment at AED 200 is worth doing once the worn part is replaced so the new one wears evenly.
Is a high-mileage IS worth repairing?
More often than not, and the tier-2 pricing is a large part of why. An AC compressor from AED 1025, a radiator at AED 1125, suspension measured in the hundreds: the repairs that would retire a premium saloon stay economic on an IS, because the mechanicals are Toyota and the parts price in the middle band rather than the top one.
The honest thing to check first is always the diagnosis, because a misfire that is carbon is a clean, while a misfire chased with parts is a bill that keeps growing. If what you need turns out to be routine servicing rather than a repair, that is fixed at AED 525 minor and AED 1075 major, where the heat, the AC and the fluids get read before any of this becomes necessary.
