BMW 4 Series with a MySyara team member during a service visit in Dubai

What customers say

4.4
Across 11,600+ reviews on Google and the MySyara app

I gave my BMW X6 for regular service and for an SOS error. Everything performed well as expected. When the error came back, the MySyara team took the car for re-inspection, realised it needed BMW's own software activation, and because they had already charged me for the rectification they took my car to BMW and sorted everything themselves, then delivered it to my doorstep without charging any extra. Best customer service I have had in my last 8 years in Dubai.

5 star service on my 3 Series BMW, special thanks to Israr Khan.

Super service, professional mechanics, great work fixed my BMW. The guys know their job well and prices are reasonable. Recommend it.

A minor service is AED 625 and a major service AED 1300, which is tier 3, the coupe and convertible rate. An oil change only is from AED 300 and spark plugs are AED 300. On drivetrain fluids, a gearbox or ATF change is AED 550, AED 825 with the filter. A radiator flush is AED 225, the air filter and the cabin filter are AED 125 each, an A/C gas top-up is AED 150, a wheel alignment AED 200 and a tyre rotation AED 50. A general check is AED 150. On a convertible, clearing the roof drains, checking the seals and any roof mechanism work are quoted on their own, because there is no fixed roof price until we know what the roof needs.
Because BMW treats it that way, and so should anyone servicing the car. On the convertible the folding roof is a powered mechanism driven by a hydraulic pump, and BMW's recommended maintenance for these cars puts roof system checks alongside the oil and the brakes rather than treating the roof as something you only look at once it fails. Owner guidance is the same: leave the roof unchecked and a small problem turns into a larger one with the mechanism. So on a convertible we clear the drains, check the seals and watch the roof cycle as part of the service, not as an upsell bolted on afterwards.
They matter more here, not less, and the reason is counterintuitive. Owners assume water ingress is a wet-climate problem and that a city with almost no rain is safe from it. The water that gets into these cars in Dubai mostly comes from washing, not weather, and a blocked drain does not care where the water came from. Water that cannot drain sits in the rear quarters and the boot, and that is where it starts to cause trouble. Clearing the drains at the service is a few minutes of work that heads off the expensive version of the same story later.
The major is typically every third service, around 30,000 to 40,000 km or every two years. It replaces rather than cleans: Mobil fully synthetic oil and a new oil filter, a new air filter, a new cabin filter, new spark plugs and new wiper blades, with all fluids topped up and a full fault scan and inspection. Spark plugs on their own are AED 300, which is part of why the major sits above the minor. On a convertible the roof drains and roof operation are checked at the major as well, and the drivetrain fluids run on their own clock and are quoted separately so the bill is not padded.
Yes, a doorstep minor service anywhere in Dubai, at the same price as the workshop. That covers the oil, the filter, fluid top-ups and the inspection. Anything that needs the car on a lift, such as the ATF change with a filter or cooling work, is done at Al Quoz, Umm Ramool or Wadi Al Amardi. The convertible roof, its drains and any water work are workshop-only, because the roof has to be cycled and the drains reached properly, and doorstep visits are Dubai-only.
Mobil fully synthetic oil at the specification your engine calls for, with a new filter on every service. In this climate the oil needs to hold its viscosity and its film strength through a Dubai summer instead of thinning early, so the specification is not a detail to cut a corner on. If you know what went in last time, mention it when you book, and if the grade is a mystery we will put the correct one in.
Yes, provided the oil meets BMW's specification, the parts are genuine or quality-equivalent, the schedule is kept and the work is recorded. We use Mobil fully synthetic oil and give you an itemised record of what was done, including the roof and drain checks on a convertible. Most of our BMW customers move across once the car is outside its dealer warranty, where the saving is largest and there is nothing left to protect.

Minor AED 625, major AED 1300, fixed before you book. Mobil synthetic oil, a new filter and a full inspection, and on a convertible the roof drains cleared and the roof checked as part of the service. Doorstep minor service available across Dubai.

Fixed price upfront. Roof and water work is quoted after we see it, never assumed.

On a 4 Series, the roof is part of the service, not an optional extra

Most servicing checklists for a coupe read the same as any other car: oil, filters, fluids, brakes, a scan. On a 4 Series convertible that list is missing the one item that is specific to the car you actually own, and leaving it off is how a small problem becomes a large one.

On the convertible the folding roof is not trim. It is a powered mechanism driven by a hydraulic pump, with modules, motors, latches and seals that all have to work together for the roof to open and close. If the pump fails, or the hydraulic fluid is low or leaking, the roof simply will not move. BMW understands this, which is why its recommended maintenance for these cars puts roof system checks alongside the oil and the brakes, rather than treating the roof as something you only think about the day it stops.

That is the principle this page is built on. A 4 Series service here is the ordinary tier-3 maintenance that any coupe needs, plus the roof work that a convertible needs and most workshops forget. A minor service is AED 625 and a major is AED 1300. Those figures cover the mechanical service. On a convertible we also clear the roof drains, check the seals and watch the roof cycle, because the cheapest repair this car will ever have is a clear drain, and the way to keep it cheap is to check it before it blocks.

The drains matter more than the weather

Here is the part owners in Dubai get wrong, and it is worth saying plainly because it goes against instinct.

Water in the rear quarters is a common, well-documented problem on these cars. Most owners assume that is a wet-climate concern and that a city where it barely rains is immune to it. That assumption is exactly backwards. The water that gets into a 4 Series in Dubai does not fall from the sky, it comes from washing. A pressure washer, a hose over the rear deck, a car wash that soaks the folded roof and the boot shuts, and the water goes in the same places rain would. And a blocked drain does not care where the water came from.

The roof mechanism lives with drain channels that are meant to carry that water away before it pools. When those drains clog with dust and grit, which they do quickly in this climate, the water has nowhere to go. It sits in the quarters and the boot, soaks into things that were never meant to be wet, and becomes the root cause of faults that look nothing like a drainage problem on the surface. Clearing the drains at the service is a few minutes of attention. Dealing with what blocked drains eventually cause is not.

What BMW’s schedule actually asks for

It is easy to assume the roof checks are something a workshop invented to add a line to the bill. They are not. BMW’s own maintenance guidance for these cars includes roof system checks as part of looking after the vehicle, in the same breath as the oil and the brakes. The reasoning is simple: the roof is a mechanism with fluid, seals and moving parts, and a mechanism that is never inspected is one you only find out about when it fails, usually half open, usually at the worst moment.

Owner guidance lands in the same place. Ignore the roof system and you do not get a reprieve, you get a bigger problem with the roof mechanism specifically. So treating the roof as a serviced system rather than an emergency is not us gilding the service. It is following what the car was designed to need.

On the coupe and the gran coupe there is no folding roof, so this part of the service does not apply and you simply get the tier-3 mechanical service. On the convertible it is central, and it is included rather than quoted as an extra.

What the minor at AED 625 covers

The minor service is the routine one, due every 5,000 to 10,000 km or six months, whichever comes first. It covers Mobil fully synthetic oil, a new oil filter, cleaning of the air and cabin filters, all fluids topped up, a full fault-code scan and a multi-point inspection. In Dubai you can have the mechanical part of this done at your door at the same price as the workshop.

On a convertible, the inspection is where the roof work sits. We clear the roof drains, check the seals for perishing and watch the roof cycle under supervision, so that a drain starting to block or a seal starting to let go is caught while it is still a five-minute job. On a tier-3 coupe the scan and the inspection are arguably the more valuable half of the visit, because catching a weeping shock, a tired battery, a coolant system quietly losing its corrosion protection or a roof drain filling with grit is worth considerably more than the AED 625 the service itself cost.

What the major at AED 1300 covers

The major service is typically every third service, around 30,000 to 40,000 km or every two years. The difference from the minor is that it replaces rather than cleans. You get Mobil fully synthetic oil and a new oil filter as always, plus a new air filter, a new cabin filter, new spark plugs and new wiper blades, with all fluids topped up and a full scan and inspection.

Spark plugs on their own are AED 300 as a standalone job, which is part of why the major sits where it does above the minor. The air filter and cabin filter are AED 125 each, and both load with fine dust quickly here, so a Dubai car genuinely uses them up rather than them being changed for the sake of it.

On a convertible the roof drains and roof operation are checked at the major as well. What the major does not do is quietly fold the drivetrain fluids into the figure to inflate it. Those run on their own clock, and we tell you which of them is actually due rather than bundling them in.

Mobil fully synthetic oil, and why the grade earns its place

There is a difference between having oil and having oil that keeps doing its job in July, and on a car that runs hard in traffic that difference is not academic.

We use Mobil fully synthetic oil at the specification your engine calls for, and a new filter, on every service. At 45ยฐC ambient, crawling in traffic with the air conditioning working flat out, the oil is hotter and under more strain than a temperate-climate service interval assumes. A quality synthetic holds its viscosity and its film strength through that instead of thinning early and losing the protection it was carrying. A cheap oil that shears down after a few thousand kilometres works against the one margin you most want to defend, so the specification is not a corner to cut.

If a previous change used whatever was cheapest, or the grade is a mystery, tell us when you book. We would rather know than guess.

The fluids the heat ages fastest

Oil gets the attention. The gearbox fluid rarely does, and in this heat that is a mistake worth correcting.

Automatic transmission fluid degrades with heat and load, and a coupe worked in Dubai traffic supplies both. A gearbox or ATF fluid change is AED 550, or AED 825 with a new filter. Caught at the right time this is routine maintenance. Left until the gearbox is already shifting oddly, the conversation is no longer about fresh fluid, so if your car has covered real distance and this has never been touched, mention the mileage when you book and we will tell you honestly whether it is due.

Cooling belongs in the same thought. A radiator flush and refill is AED 225, and it is one of the cheapest sensible things to do before summer. Coolant carries corrosion protection, and that protection wears out while the coolant still looks perfectly healthy, which is how a cooling system starts to fail quietly from the inside.

Roof operation, seals and drains, checked under supervision

This is the part of the service that is specific to the convertible, so it is worth describing exactly what happens.

We clear the roof drains on both sides, because those are the channels that carry washing water away before it can pool in the quarters and the boot. We check the seals that keep water out of the cabin and the mechanism, since perished rubber is both an ingress path and a sign of age. And we watch the roof cycle fully open and fully closed under supervision, because a roof that hesitates, stops part way or sounds laboured is telling you something before it fails outright.

None of this carries a fixed catalogue price, because none of it is a fixed job. Clearing a drain is minutes. Replacing a perished seal or addressing a hydraulic or mechanism fault is quoted once we have seen it. What the service guarantees is that the roof gets looked at on a schedule, which is the single thing that keeps a convertible roof cheap to own.

The wear items the inspection catches

On a coupe that lives on Sheikh Zayed Road, the parts that wear are predictable, and the inspection exists to find them before they find you. Brakes come first. We measure the pads in millimetres and report the number rather than guessing, because the honest answer on a Dubai car is often that you have a few thousand kilometres left, and sometimes it is that you should not leave it. A squeal is not automatically a replacement either, since brake dust and fine sand on the pad surface do the same thing and need only a clean.

Suspension is next. Dubai’s speed bumps work the bushes and links hard, so a knock over bumps is worth checking at a service rather than waiting for it to get worse. The battery belongs on the same list. In this climate a battery that still starts the car in April can be on its last weeks by July, and a quick test at the service is worth more than a roadside failure in the heat. Anything the inspection flags is reported with a price for you to decide on, and if it is a repair rather than maintenance it is quoted separately.

If it turns out to be a repair, not a service

Servicing keeps the car healthy. If something is already wrong, that is a different page. The most common one on this car is a roof that refuses to move, and the honest first answer is almost always water and drainage rather than a broken roof. That starts with an AED 99 diagnosis, which finds out whether you are dealing with a blocked drain, a wet module, a window motor or the mechanism itself, before anyone quotes the expensive version.

Keep the service honest and the drains clear, and most owners never meet that page. That is rather the point of doing the roof checks at the service in the first place.
